Candle Care

Hot tips

Follow these candle care tips to get the best (and safest!) burn

1. Always keep your candle wick trimmed to a 1/4" (cotton wick) or 1/8" (wooden wick) before each burn

While the wick needs to be short in order to pull the wax up it, it also can't be too short. If you cut it so short that it's hard to light, it may drown in the wax, fail to catch at all, or burn with a very low flame. Don't be afraid to try it at a little longer and shorten it as needed.

2. Always allow your wax pool to reach the edge of your vessel

You will find coconut wax burns more cleanly and faster than other waxes, you will have a full melt pool within the first hourof burning. Burning for short periods of time and not allowing the wax pool to melt to the edge can lead to candle tunneling. Avoid burning for short periods of time (less than an hour) or for too long (over 4 hours)

3. Do not allow debris to inhabit your wax pool

Make sure to let your candle cool before trimming (and don't trim while lit), as you don’t want any bits of ash or wick material left in the wax when you’re done. It’s much easier to clean this up when the wax is hard and cool!

4. Be smart about where you burn your candle

Keep it away from flammable objects and small children. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

5. Don’t burn your candle if only 1/2-1/4" of wax remains

Lighting a candle without enough wax can cause the jar to overheat when your done lighting your candle we encourage youto clean it out andrepurposethe container for storage, a planter perhaps, or even to refill as another candle!
